For the last 5 years, Summerscream Youth Camp has been our unwavering top choice for the youth of our church to attend summer camp. It is a place we send our kids to with great confidence because we know that our kids will experience the best of what a summer camp should be. It is done with excellence, carries an atmosphere of faith and is well organized. On top of that it is a lot of fun and safe. Every activity is monitored by well trained adults.

"This camp is God’s idea.

This is a sanctified place, it serves as an incubator. Also serves as a place where the Holy Spirit imparts things. He needs a secured environment to be able to do it. There are some kids that are to come in the next 3 years, some won’t come until the 3rd year, some will come to all 3. The greatest number, not number of people but people with real special calls on there life, and He’s going to send them here to get something. So it’s not just a camp of hupla, hupla, hupla, we have a lot of fun and stuff but there is an implanting of something almost like an injecting, the word of the Lord coming unto them. We are to prepare not just before camp next year cause it’s not just preparation of the physical grounds, it has to do with getting these kids ready to come…Praise the Lord.

He spoke this word to me, renown. He said in this area, not just Illinois but in this chunk of America, there’s some people who will be of renown.

He said it in two ways:

There will be some who are not so renown in the minds and estimation of people, but they will be renown with God. They will know God. THEY WILL KNOW GOD! And because they know God they’ll do great exploits. They will know God and they will be known of God. They will be like agents of God, special agents of God. People of renown, there are others that will be people of renown in the worlds estimation. Praise the Lord

She went on to say: This is very tender to the heart of God. This means a lot. This means so much to the kingdom of God."

Every year in late July or early August I find myself saying, ‘another year of camp has already come and gone.” In the spring of the year we are hustling and working to make everything ship shape for another year of camp. And, frankly, sometimes it is overwhelming. But, at the end of the summer I always look back and become more and more thankful that God put the vision for this camp on my heart.

It has grown beyond my all I could have ever hoped or imagined and is continuing to do so. I am at the point where I simply look at God in amazement and say, “What are you going to do next?” and, He always shows Himself faithful. He is faithful to meet all the needs awe have for camp, He is faithful to provide new vision for each year and, most importantly, He meets the youth who attend Summer Scream where they are and, as a result, there are always may testimonies to share.

Here is just a sampling of the great and mighty things our God has done, and will continue to do, at Summer Scream.

“I’m NOT the same person.”

“My heart, this week at camp, has been healed from hurt, hate, and unconfidence.”

“This year at Summer Scream I really feel I went a step higher in my Lord.”

“Summer Scream has made a BIG change in my life, and when I look back at my notes three months form now, they will continue to be a blessing to me.”

These are just some snippets of what a few of the campers said to us, either through their camp evaluation forms or in person. We also have received many letters form youth and staff alike that speaks to the life changing impact Summer Scream has had at the local church level.

“We have parents coming up to us staff and leaders saying, ‘My kid is still talking about camp!’ Lives were truly touched and changed as a result of participating this year…and its just beginning. I was truly a joy not only to watch the transformation in the kids as the week went on, but to see the long lasting effects since we’ve been back. We have youth chomping at the bit to get involved in the life of the church.
One of the young ladies was planning to go to college after she graduates this year, but at camp heard and received the call to ministry. Now she plans to go to Rhema next year instead!
What an awesome ministry you have there in Rushville! I believe in what you’re doing there. It’s bearing much fruit to the glory of God.”

“I have seen people live from one conference or one camp to the next. Living on fire and full of God and then growing cold. But not this year! Sunday morning an excitement and anticipation was stirring in the atmosphere. During our time of prayer our children’s pastor was spoken to by the Holy Spirit saying, ‘Today is the day of turn around for our children and young people!’ After and awesome time in God’s presence during praise and worship we offered the young people a time to share what God had done for them during camp. ALL of our teens that went this year came up to share (very unusual). Many spoke of the communion time and how God had spoken to them during this time:

While I was taking communion, God spoke to me and told me that I was supposed to be a pastor.’

‘After last week, I now know that my calling is to work in some area with youth or be a youth pastor after going to Rhema.’
